Please help me!

Post by Dead Metal »

Ok. Something is wrong with my internet connection. It just started going crazy. Here's the problem:

My internet connection was very slow BUT my bytes activity is skyrocketing like no tomorrow. I have more bytes sent than received. As a result, my game ping is off the chart and ventrilo ping went for an all time record of over 5000 ping.

Can any of you guys help me please? I want my internet restored :(.

Watch out you may have a virus sending on your computer. Be sure your virus scanner is up to date and run a check.

UPDATE:

Norton Antivirus scan is complete.

Computer is completely clean. Nothing detected. Bytes activity is still going beyond its normal speed but bytes sent are now less than bytes received. Pings are still rediculously high.

I don't know what's wrong.

It could also be spyware. Norton's will not detect 90% of spware so you should do a scan with a spyware scanner.
Try www.housecall.antivirus.com.
They have a very good spyware scanner built in to thier virus scanner.
You may also want to try "Spybot search and destroy".
Do a google search on it.
It's free and does a cvery good job of detecting and cleaning spyware.

SS is right check for spyware....

Download their personel version it's free
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/

This one is free as well
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html

I would recommend downloading both and running both on your system.

Some of these spyware programs can be difficult to remove and you may need to boot in safe mode and run these as well. :x

Spyware Blaster keep a lot off your computer the free one DOES NOT come with a automatic update, you have to do it. Check CNET.com they have a good amount of stuff there

There is really no "best" scanner. I have seen all of them miss different things at different times.

Myself, I use SpyBot and Adaware. What one mises the other useally will catch. That being said, I have found spyware that neither would remove.
The main thing to remember is don't just use any spyware cleaner, there are a few that are actually spyware themselves. Make sure the one you use has a good reputation behind it.
